Life Enrichment

Our Commitment

The Life Enrichment team at GEF Seniors Housing is committed to positively impacting the quality of life of clients through recreation and social opportunities.

The staff in our Apartment communities are dedicated to supporting tenants with their recreation initiatives and self-led social activities.

Our Lodge communities offer activity and wellness services that provide diverse, engaging, and meaningful opportunities to connect through recreation and leisure programming. Learn more about this service below.

Each year, the Life Enrichment team schedules approximately:

425 bus outings

318 hours of live music

9500 hours of programming

The Life Enrichment staff are here to support the recreational and wellness needs and interests of clients. It is our main priority to build strong relationships with our clients and to include them in the planning process, as we foster a shared responsibility and choice in building a vibrant community. Our team uses the various dimensions of wellness (physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, vocational, and environmental) as a lens for creating diverse programming.

Physically Active Programs

Activities that will offer an opportunity to increase movement, build strength, and maintain balance.

Intellectually Stimulating Programs

Activities that will foster learning a new skill, utilizing creativity, or testing the mind.

Socially Connecting Programs

Activities and events that will provide ample opportunity to connect with others, form relationships, and enjoy things like live music or other unique performances.

Spiritually Enriching Programs

Activities that will support connection to personal beliefs, values, and purpose in life.

Support for Self-Led Activities

We work with social committees in each Apartment community to support tenants with their recreation initiatives and self-led social activities.

Support for Community Events

Apartment tenants are offered two community events each year, which may include a Summer BBQ with food, entertainment, and opportunities to socialize with neighbours.

To contribute to meet client’s needs, the Life Enrichment team coordinates the following opportunities:

Bus Outings

Each GEF community is offered two bus outings each month to various destinations, such as museums, restaurants, shopping centres, casinos, and more.

Intergenerational Programming

The activity and wellness programming offered in the Lodge communities often includes partnerships with neighbouring schools and daycares, which offer a chance to form meaningful connections with various generations.

Service Providers

GEF supports in connecting clients with services, such as hair styling, foot care, and chiropractic care.

Community Groups and Volunteers

Volunteers and community groups, such as pet therapy, Edmonton Public Library, and certified yoga instructors, contribute to the diverse programming offered in Lodge communities and prove unique engagement opportunities for clients.
